Gorkhaly Foundation is pleased to announce Maya Pandey, an eighth grade student in Fairfax County, Virginia, as its first Young Ambassador. Our Young Ambassador are dynamic young leaders with innovative ideas and the ability to mobilize their communities in support of a cause they identify.
In February 2016, Maya launched a brilliant campaign to build a Children’s Learning Center in Barpak, Nepal. By August of the same year, she had travelled to Barpak with the resources and partnered with community leaders and young readers to not only put in place a learning center but also ensure its sustainability.
The learning center is a treasured addition to the community and one where the children of Barpak spend countless hours with their new found book friends.
