Open Mic Nights serves as the flagship event for the Gorkhaly Foundation. Its inception occurred in July 2015, right after the devastating earthquakes in Nepal. This event continued as a monthly occurrence until the onset of the pandemic in 2020. Initially conceived as a platform for individuals affected by the earthquake to come together and share their experiences regarding the disaster’s impact, Open Mic Nights subsequently transformed into a platform for local artists from the DMV area to display their creative abilities and contribute to the Foundation’s ongoing projects through fundraising efforts.
Each Open Mic event is a unique experience. Over the past five years, we’ve witnessed a wealth of talent, and we are firmly dedicated to resuming these events once it’s safe to do so.
